I had home ec and loved it -- taught me the basics of chemistry, design and project planning. Physics, Chemistry and helping my dad in his woodshop gave me the practical bits. Although I wasn't allowed to really work with the tools or be in the shop while he was working due to severe allergies, I still learned a lot.
